While I was visiting San Diego, I had so much great, great vegan food. In New York City where I spend 80% of my week, there are some pretty good options around, but it’s nothing compared to San Diego. I was so happy to be able to try out Cafe Gratitude in San Diego for lunch one day during my visit.
Cafe Gratitude is an all plant-based, organic restaurant chain that supports local farmers, sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly products. There are multiple locations throughout California but I had lunch at their only San Diego location on Kettner Avenue.
I had a blackened tempeh Cesar wrap that was so good. It tasted just like a Chicken Cesar wrap – which I haven’t had in so long! The portion sizes were great and the side salad was super refreshing.
My friend got a black bean burger that was nothing short of amazing. I was really torn about whether to get this or the Cesar wrap, but I usually get a veggie burger whenever I eat out. The sweet potato fries were so tasty I couldn’t help but keep picking them off her plate.
Dessert was obviously a must at Cafe Gratitude here. A chocolate chip walnut cookie was my go-to, whereas my friend went with the crispy chocolate bar.
Something cool about the way you order at Cafe Gratitude is you say ” I Am…” and each of the menu items has a fun name. The Cesar wrap was “I Am Glorious” and the burger was “I Am Magical.” Just making yourself say those words during the day is so great.
The service was also great there – the staff is really informative and friendly. You can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. It’s in a great location in San Diego as well, where you can see tons of dogs walking by and businesspeople all on their lunch breaks. If you are every in San Diego, you have to check out Cafe Gratitude. Even if you aren’t plant-based, you will not regret it.
Have you ever been to Cafe Gratitude?
